Tourism EDGE Event Series

This monthly series of workshops and seminars, keeps you and your team up-to-date with the latest developments, innovations and trends from industry experts. Enrich your marketing skills, enhance your sales efforts and grow your business while networking with peers and industry experts. November 25, 2019 – Beyond Tourism: Understanding the Impact of Toronto’s “Visitor Economy”
More than 45 million people will visit Toronto this year, spending more than $9 billion across a diverse range of businesses. Destination Toronto and the Toronto Region Board of Trade released a landmark economic study by Oxford Economics on Toronto’s tourism sector, followed by an expert panel about the connections between tourism and economic development.

December 2, 2019 – Destination Toronto’s Annual General Meeting
Destination Toronto’s Annual General meeting brought together members of the community to connect and recap the year in tourism for 2019.

October 16, 2019 – EDGE Event: Market Insider Deep Dive
This final EDGE event of 2019 took a deep dive into the Market Insights Report. The event started with Andrew Weir, EVP, Destination Development, giving a keynote address, unpacking Toronto’s visitor economy, followed by a presentation by Vas Kolovos, Market Manager at Expedia Group.

September 23, 2019 – EDGE Event: Building Brand Trust – User-Generated Content
The event was part two in the Building Brand Trust series, which explored strategies to nurture trust and drive results through user-generated content (UGC). The event featured a keynote presentation by Paula Port, Director of Brand Content, followed by a panel dissecting how to engage your audience through UGC.

June 24, 2019 – Summer Networking Event
Destination Toronto hosted its summer networking event, giving members a chance to connect with colleagues in the industry at the AGO, our host venue. Destination Toronto’s EVP and Chief Marketing Officer Jon Mamela was on hand to launch the new brand platform Let Yourself In, with the videos from the campaign playing at the event.

November 20, 2018 – Destination Toronto’s 93rd Annual General Meeting
Our 93rd Annual General Meeting at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, brought together members, stakeholders and government to celebrate 2018 and taking a look ahead at what’s to come. For the first time in the history of the AGM, all three levels of government joined us on stage to talk about the vital economic impact of tourism for the city, the province and the country. The AGM was followed by a packed reception for attendees.

November 6, 2018 – EDGE Event: Crossing Into Canada
Crossing Into Canada – Navigating Canadian border regulations for international visitors and businesses marked the final EDGE Event for 2018. This seminar took an in-depth look at eTAs, visas, customs and biometrics unpacked the facts, issues and policy changes that impact meetings, groups and individual travellers to Toronto.

October 16, 2018 – Edge Event: Building Brand Trust
This EDGE Event focused on strategies to build and nurture brand trust with a focus on best practices for working with influencers. Building Brand Trust opened with a presentation addressing authenticity, how to build brand trust and how Destination Toronto works with influencers to tell the Toronto story to a wider audience; and featured a panel discussion with Toronto-based influencers.
